WWE: Monday Night RAW Recap January 15, 2018

OMG Y'all RAW was GOOOOD!

Seth Rollins brought back his devastating curb stomp but it might be revoked, Jason Jordan is still on some bullshit, Braun Strowman was on a warpath, Roman had to wrestle both members of the MizTourage ugh, and so much more!

RAW started off with the Monster Among Men solidifying his dominance. He does what he wants when he wants. Well, Kurt Angle wasn't having it. He decided that Braun Strowman's actions were too violate for RAW. He fired him in the middle of the ring on Live Television. Kurt was escorted to the ring by security but they left with Braun. As they escorted him to the back one of the security guards got a little snippy and he got popped for it! Braun snapped and went BALLISTIC!

Security Guards were being thrown tables turned over omg it was AWESOME and little scary (yea I know I know what you're saying "calm down tiff it's fake, its staged" well I like playing into the gig aight so just get with it)! This destruction continued all night. Throughout the night Braun Strowman was just causing CHAOS!

But I'll delve into that later. Let's get to matches for the night.

MATCHES

Tag Team Division: Titus Worldwide vs The Bar Pt. 2
Winner Titus Worldwide

To be honest this match was really good. Sheamus and Cesaro wanted redemption for last week and they were on the verge to get it. For the most part, The Bar kept their end of the bargain. They kept their foot on Titus Worldwide for the majority of the match. And Titus Worldwide put up a good fight. but towards the end, it was clear that The Bar was headed toward redemption until...Jason Jordan came out and caused a distraction. It was silly and unnecessary. He didn't interfere or come down to the ring. He literally stood the top of the key. It was enough for him to be out there to cause distraction and Titus Worldwide was able to pick up the win. This, of course, infuriated The Bar. While Jordan laughs Rollins comes out. Arguing about "interfering" in their match.

Cruiserweight Division: Tony Nese with Enzo Amore vs Cedric Alexander with Goldust
Winner: Cedric Alexander

I was okay with Tony Nese vs Cedric Alexander. It was a cool little filler match. Goldust being there was just odd to me. Cedric picked up another win over the Zo Train. I'm gonna be honest I tune out the cruiserweights sometimes because they are not giving them a viable chance to thrive. So take a look at the highlights to get a taste of the match. I can't explain what I didn't fully pay attention to.

Women's Division: Asuka vs Nia Jax
Winner:  Asuka by Decision (Nia Jax was unable to compete due to injury.)

This match had its moments but Nia Jax dominated most of it. What I found to be strange was the commentary. Listen I did not see NXT EVER except for a few matches. I did see however that Nia and Asuka have battled before. So for them to play it like Asuka was facing a challenge she had never faced was just stupid to me. Okay back to the match. Asuka did everything she could to fend off Nia but Nia was prepared. Until she slipped up. Trying to soften Asuka up, even more, cost her the match. Climbing on the steel steps Asuka attacks her knee. Forcing a fall between the steps and the ring post. It got worse when Nia tried to get up and ended up falling back first with her knee caught on the steel steps. She writhed in pain it was scary to see. She managed to beat the count to get back in the ring but she could not stand on her own and as a result, Asuka was named the winner and the match was ended.

Tag Team Division: The Revival vs Local Talent
Winner: The Revival

This match was meant to showcase The Revival's return and give them some groundswell for possible title contingency later. Other than that there's nothing else to say about the match. But I will get into what was said later in the blog. Just hold tight or scroll to the overall section.

Men's Division: Roman Reigns vs The MizTourage with The Miz
Winner: Roman Reigns

This match...I wasn't able to see all the way through. My SlingTV app was acting up during this and the match with Matt and Heath Slater. But I did get to see some of it. However not enough to do commentary. So watch the clip from YouTube and you know who won so....yea!

Women's Division: Sasha Banks vs Sonya Deville
Winner: Sonya Deville

Finally a clean match over a vet by one of these newbies. Sonya looked great. She started off great dominated Sasha for the better part of the match. Until Sasha was able to turn the match in her favor. One mistake cost her the whole match. She jumped off the top turnbuckle and instead of Sonya taking the shot she kicked Sasha dead in the gut. She couldn't recover and get beat. Sonya picked up the win, A CLEAN WIN.

Of course I felt bad for Sasha but finally one of these women looked like a viable contender for the women's champion. I was so happy y'all. I like Sonya and I am curious to see what niche she'll carve out in the WWE on her own. Yall know how I feel about the squad ish.

Men's Division: Matt Hardy vs Heath Slater
Winner: Matt Hardy

The SlingTV strikes again folks. It was a serious snow day and windy. It made life hell for me. Even when I tried to watch it back I couldn't watch it because it didn't record properly. And Hulu takes the highlights pulls it together and calls it a show. Its always missing a segment ugh its annoying as hell. But anywho. I did see this. He literally laughed Heath Slater out of the ring. It hella bizarre and funny. A twist of fate and it was OVA! DELETE DELETE DELETE LMAO.

Main Event: Seth Rollins vs Finn Balor
Winner: Seth Rollins assist via Jason Jordan

This match was really good. Seth and Finn have great chemistry. Similar in-ring styles, similar work ethic, they are just great at what they do no matter what. They have that workhorse mentality like Dolph Ziggler. They go out every night no matter the match or who it's against and put on an AH-MAZING performance. It's a joy to watch them both. Now Jason set this match up which get into in the Overall section of the blog. Jason also involved himself heavily in the match. Now the tag team contenders The Bar still steaming from their loss earlier to Titus Worldwide. They came out with an agenda get the champs back! But the Good Bros were Balor's side and they were not going to allow Sheamus and Cesaro to cost him this match. So it started a brawl. Leaving little ole Jordan in the wake. Meanwhile, Finn got the drop on Seth. And just as he was picking up momentum in the match Baby Breath Jordan trips the former champ. This allows Seth to recuperate and hit a devastating curb stomp. I am so glad its back (for now I loved that move). Seth picked up the win. Unaware of Jordan's treachery.

So the final moments of RAW end with Finn struggling to recover from that curb stomp and the champs staring them down in the ring. A confused but happy Seth and an overly confident and conniving Jordan.

OVERALL

This was one of the best RAW's I've seen in awhile and it was a great lead into this week's RAW. RAW 25! So let's break down the non-wrestling moments of the show.

Braun Strowman Gets Fired and Re-Hired All In One Show!

Listen when I tell you Braun Strowman was wrecking shit all night I mean that! It was awesome though. I mean he went ballistic when he got fired. Now as I explained before Braun got fired on NATIONAL TELEVISION LIVE IN FRONT OF THE WORLD! So naturally, he was not pleased. I could understand if they did it off camera and he came in on a tear. But Kurt was like hell nawl your outta here in front of everybody.

So here's a list of all the things he did while on his destructive path:
  • Braun eff'd up security
  • Curt Hawkins (WWE resident jobber 100+ matches and counting)
  • a delicious looking chocolate cake from craft services
  • craft services
  • scared the bejesus out of the production truck workers
  • destroyed Kurt's office
  • turned over a production truck
  • threw Michael Cole in a sea of security

The only thing that saved this show from being the Braun Strowman Destruction Show was none other than the Queen of WWE herself Stephanie McMahon. When she got wind of Braun's destruction and she demanded Kurt rehire the man. Despite being rehired he still threw Michael Cole into a crowd of security.

Booker T's punk ass pushed Michael in front of Braun. If he hadn't been such a little bitch Michael might've got away. But Michael was shook up, he couldn't continue commentary so, Tom Phillips took his place and honestly I didn't really notice much of a difference. I like Tom. If Michael ever retired I would be happy to see Tom take his place.

Goldust in the Cruiserweight Division

I'm very confused. Is Goldust 205lbs? Cause dude. I am so lost. Why? Why was Goldust sent to the Cruiserweight division? What is going on? Is it that they have nothing for Goldust to do? No rivalry to make? What the hell is he going to do for Cedric Alexander? Cause honestly he doesn't need him! Cedric is an awesome in-ring performer. I love watching his matches and that Lumbar Check is EVERYTHING! I want Cedric to win at the Royal Rumble but I have a funny feeling he won't. It will either be because of Nia Jax or Enzo will find another way to cheat. As far as Goldust is concerned I need him to leave the cruiserweight division and the WWE dedicates a real set of writers to this division and makes it worthwhile.

Once Again with Baby Breath Jordan and his Bullshit

I strongly dislike Jason Jordan's character right now. He's a douchebag. And he will be the sole reason they lose these tag team titles. Not to Sheamus and Cesaro (although I wouldn't mind that either) but to the Good Bros Gallows and Anderson. They've been gaining an even stronger following now that they've aligned themselves with Finn. I expect to see them as champion to see The Revival vs The Good Bros (Balor Club). That's a match I'd like to see.

But back to Jordan. He's running to Kurt completely oblivious and or just didn't care that Braun is running around destroying the entire WWE locker room. Claiming that he "would've" dealt with Braun. Right...like last time. Bruh you couldn't even attempt to stand up to Braun let alone "deal with him". He proceeds with asking for this match on Seth's behalf saying Seth needed it to redeem himself from losing the match last week.

Uh...thats not what I remember. What I remember was you in the ring IN THE WAY AS USUAL caused a distraction an unnecessary and costly distraction that gave Balor Club the win. So no Seth didn't lose the match yo punk ass did!

I'm at the point now where I hope they reveal he's not really Kurt's son. So this can all be OVER!

BTW: So they have gone and completely abandoned the whole storyline of Corey knowing everything and having a "reliable source". Who was the source? Who was threatening Kurt and feeding Graves all the info? Or was it Graves himself causing problems? We will never know because WWE never finishes out the damn storyline!

The LOVE Triangle: Nia Jax, Alexa Bliss, & Enzo Amore

This whole situation is interesting. It seems like Enzo really likes Nia and vice versa. But Alexa is using her friend and only concerned with keeping her title. What's interesting is WWE hasn't named an opponent for either of the women's champs at Royal Rumble. The male counterparts both have matches and opponents. So why aren't the women's belts being defended? Ugh, that's an argument for another day.

Alexa at first seemed genuinely concerned that her friend was injured. But she ended up making it about her and her concern for Asuka coming after her title. Then Enzo shows up concerned for his lady. Alexa tries to shoo him away but Nia is like naw you shoo away. Girl, it was hilarious.

Alexa's days are numbered. And I for one am happy about it. She's hoarded this title for long enough I want to see some real competition vying for this belt. She hasn't added anything but sass and attitude. I would rather watch Sasha Paige Sony Deville Mandy Rose and Bayley (honestly I'm no fan of Bayley's) fight it out every time for the belt than to watch Baby Bliss walk around telling everyone how dominant she is. I've had it.

Rollins Brings Back the Curb Stomp

Rollins brought back the curb stomp! I was YES YES YES YES! I freaking loved it!
